Julie Nations, Development Director
Julie joined NFTE New England in August 2015. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a creative problem solver with more than 25 years of fundraising and nonprofit management experience combined with demonstrated community leadership. Prior to NFTE, Julie served as the Director of Community Relations & Outreach and the Chair of the GiveWell corporate social responsibility committee for Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan (BMCHP), working closely with hundreds of nonprofit organizations and community health centers across Massachusetts and New Hampshire that serve low income youth and families. Prior to BMCHP, Julie served as the Executive Director of the Ellie Fund, relaunching its mission and increasing the budget from $45K - $550K, and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of New England where she raised $2.1 annually. Julie earned her M.Phil in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic, and her BA from San Francisco State University. Her passions include STEM education for girls, performing arts, and world travel.
Jennifer Green, Director
Jennifer joined NFTE New England as the Program Director in the summer of 2010. As the Program Director, she was responsible for program implementation and support for over 25 teachers and 900 students annually. Jennifer was named Executive Director in May 2011 and for the next four years, she managed and developed NFTE New England’s strategic growth plans, board development, fundraising activities, public relations outreach, and capacity building initiatives. During her years leading NFTE New England, Jennifer and her team served 5,000 youth while also raising $1M. Under the direction of a new CEO, as part of NFTE’s 2015 global restructuring efforts, Jennifer was given the opportunity to once again take the lead programmatic role, working closely with the teachers, students, and volunteers, which, according to Jennifer, is “the most inspiring part of working at NFTE.” Before joining NFTE, Jennifer served as the Managing Director for the nonprofit social enterprise Building Impact. Jennifer’s previous professional experience also includes nonprofit consulting, social venture philanthropy and four years of events management. She earned her MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from Babson College and has since sat on numerous panels to discuss the field of social entrepreneurship and nonprofit management. In her spare time, Jennifer loves being a mom, and finds time for mountain biking, painting, and volunteering for family equality organizations.
Dean Constant, Lead Program Associate (New England)
Dean arrives with educational experience stemming from his time at Teach for America. As a 2014 Corps Member, Dean taught 8th-grade science at UP Academy Charter School of Boston for the past two years. In his time there, Dean served as a co-chair of the 8th-grade science curriculum development team, coordinated the school’s science fairs and coached the school’s soccer team to a 4th place in the state’s middle school soccer championship. Dean worked with the Dean of Curriculum and Instruction to create rigorous science units, assessments and lesson plans, while also helping mentor new incoming teachers.
Dean holds a Master of Education (Ed.M.) in General Science Education from Boston University and a B.S. in Psychology and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Union College, where he was also a four-year member and captain of the men’s varsity soccer team.
