As you walked into the business expo at the New York Marriott Marquis last night you could sense that there was something special in the air. As kids were running around, setting up their booths to display their businesses you couldn’t help but feel excited for them. It was the start to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Dare to Dream Awards Dinner and the beginning to a fantastic evening honoring our dedicated students and teachers.
At this year’s awards dinner there were students and teachers from all over the country and all over the world. While walking around the event you saw businesses ranging from a rugby academy from New Zealand to custom made teas from Brooklyn, NY. And with each business being as creative and inspiring as the next you couldn’t help but begin to catch the entrepreneurial fever.
After the business expo portion of the evening concluded it was onto the main event, the awards ceremony, to honor our dedicated young entrepreneurs, educators, and supporters. This year’s honorees were Anthony Scaramucci, Managing Partner at SkyBridge Capital, and Eric Van Standifer, Founder & CEO of Blaylock Robert Van, LLC. These two outstanding individuals received the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in recognition of their excellence in advancing entrepreneurship education. Also in attendance, as a special guest, was NBA Legend and Entrepreneur Earvin “Magic” Johnson. During the award ceremony Magic spoke with many of the NFTE young entrepreneurs telling them about his struggles as a young boy, and how he overcame them through hard work and dedication.
You can find out more information about all the students and their business that were awarded at this year’s dinner on our website. Also be sure to check our Facebook page as we update it with videos and pictures taken at the event.
