Applying Henna has always come naturally to Rafal Thaher, founder of RFULLAHENNA, a henna application service, since the art form is a part of her cultural upbringing and has been a hobby of hers since she was nine years old. With no henna art businesses in the vicinity of her community, Rafal’s plans to share her art at weddings, parties, and high school events. In addition to charging for her work, Rafal plans to visit Lowell General Hospital Cancer Center to provide henna for patients, particularly women being treated for breast cancer, to cover scars as well as enhance their features. Rafal first came to the United States in 2009, speaking no English. In the few years she has been in this country, she has perfected both her verbal and written skills. Rafal is currently attending Middlesex Community College and while she was originally planning on studying to become a dental assistant, NFTE has influenced her to want to study business instead. In the future, Rafal hopes to open a successful, world-wide chain of RFULLAHENNA salons.
In 2014 Rafal was the winner of NFTE New England's Regional Business Plan Competition and went on to represent her region at the National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in Silicon Valley in October, 2014.
