Welcome to NFTE DC Region’s Volunteer Homepage
We deliver entrepreneurship education to more than 1,000 students in 29 schools located in Washington, DC, Prince George’s County, MD, and Northern Virginia. We support an active group of 30 Certified Entrepreneurship Teachers (CETs) that teaches our flagship entrepreneurship program (grades 9–12) and Start It Up Math pilot program (grades 6–8).
Our volunteers collaborate with CETs and bring the curriculum to life for our students. They do so by sharing their business experience and working one-on-one with students to help develop their entrepreneurial mindset.
We are so grateful for each of our over 250 volunteers who work with our students, CETs, and program staff throughout the year. Our volunteers are diverse individuals—corporate executives at major national and international companies, entrepreneurs, young professionals, retired executives, and mid-level managers—who represent all aspects of business operations.
Our volunteers are enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and helping students define their pathway to prosperity. Volunteers work closely with our program manager, who guides them through orientation and all stages of the volunteer assignment. Volunteers learn to navigate NFTE’s online volunteer portal where they can find:
- Listings of volunteer opportunities posted regularly
- Guidelines for working with students and teachers at school sites
- Information about our programmatic model,
- Additional information to make the volunteer experience rewarding
