NFTE Greater Los Angeles Staff
Estelle Reyes , Executive Director
Estelle Reyes joined NFTE in 2006 as Program Director and played a central role in launching and growing the NFTE Program in Los Angeles to reach over 6,000 students locally. In 2010, Estelle was named Executive Director of NFTE Los Angeles. In this role she manages staff, operations, fund development and major partnerships. She works in tandem with the NFTE National Executive Committee, the local Advisory Board and E-Council to chart the course of NFTE Los Angeles’ quality and expansion. Prior to her involvement with NFTE, Estelle worked as a Financial Analyst at Goldman Sachs’ Private Wealth Management Division in Los Angeles as well as a First Grade Teacher in Berkeley, CA. Estelle holds a Bachelor’s degree from Brown University, and a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Estelle is a Leadership LA Fellow (Class of 2010).
Betsy Blanchard , Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships
Betsy Blanchard joined NFTE Greater LA in 2008, having begun work with NFTE in 2006 in the Bay Area Program Office. In her role as Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships, she focuses on fund development, seeking resources to support current offerings and new initiatives. She also builds and cultivates strategic partners who augment our efforts through their expertise. Prior to her involvement with NFTE, Betsy developed and led leadership programs for girls ranging from middle school to high school, through her work with the YWCA of the City of New York and as the co-founder of Girls CAN. Betsy earned a B.A. from Amherst College and a Masters Degree from Columbia University, School of Social Work.
Megan Dipane , Program Director
Megan joined NFTE Greater LA in January 2012 as Program Manager and was recently named Program Director. Megan provides support services to our cadre of certified entrepreneurship teachers, analyzing outputs and implementing initiatives to constantly improve teacher performance and student outcomes. She also manages teacher professional development and the recruitment process for program expansion. Prior to NFTE, Megan taught at an elementary school and developed a curriculum for an after-school program for students ages 4-8. Megan holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Education from Villanova University and an Ed.M. in Prevention Science and Practice with a concentration in Adolescent School Counseling from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Nadia Shahin , Program Manager
Nadia joined NFTE Greater LA in November 2011 as a Volunteer Coordinator and was recently named Program Manager. Nadia works closely with Megan to provide program support to our teacher cadre. She also oversees our volunteer engagement system and manages our Alumni Program. Prior to NFTE, Nadia attended the University of Southern California where she received her B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship.
Laura Wong , Marketing & Development Associate
Laura joined NFTE Greater LA in October 2011. Laura works closely with Estelle and Betsy to drive fundraising and development efforts through our events, donor appeals, and social media. Prior to NFTE, Laura was an AmeriCorpsVISTA working as a Resource and Development Associate for Creating Economic Opportunities Women (C.E.O. Women), an organization focused on providing immigrant and refugee women with the resources necessary to start their own businesses. Laura holds a BS in Physics and Mathematics from Azusa Pacific University.
Emily Alonso , Program Associate
Emily joined NFTE Greater LA in October 2012 and is helping out with numerous projects such as Volunteer Outreach, Strategic Planning, Communications and Development. Emily grew up in Granada Hills, CA and attended Granada Hills Charter High School. In high school she was president of the Save the Children Club where she learned how to outreach and fundraise, raising over $3,000 for the organization. Wanting to outreach on a more local scale, Emily became involved with NFTE Greater Los Angeles as a volunteer. Using her experience as an Accounting Assistant for AeroFilm, a production company in Santa Monica, Emily loves volunteering as a business coach or a guest speaker. Emily is also a student at Santa Monica College and is looking to transfer in 2014 to a four year university as a Business Major with a Minor in Accounting.
