This summer, NFTE is bringing its experiential curriculum to 11 cities across the U.S. in the form of summer BizCamps. NFTE BizCamps are two-week intensive entrepreneurship programs designed to unlock the entrepreneurial mindset in youth as each participant builds a full plan for an original business idea of their own. Students cover all aspects of what it takes to start a business including learning about opportunity recognition, market research, sales and business financials.
Through the process and a series of project-based learning activities integrated in the program they learn to think and act like entrepreneurs – see an opportunity, act on it, persevere and learn from setbacks and change course in ways that lead to success. At the BizCamps, students will compete for local prizes and a chance to advance to NFTE’s National Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in Silicon Valley. This summer, thanks to the support of the Citi Foundation, 18 camps will serve 450 young people in 10 cities across the U.S.
And for the second consecutive year, NFTE has joined forces with a group of St. Louis area organizations to host the Start it Up St. Louis BizCamp, an interactive business camp for 50 high school youth. The St. Louis BizCamp is available to students free of charge, thanks to financial support from MasterCard.
BizCamps have already kicked off in St. Louis, Dallas, the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Miami, and more will take place in the coming weeks.
