Congratulations to this year's Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2012 Alumni Fund Scholarship Recipients! Ernst & Young generously supports these young NFTE graduates, and NFTE is sincerely grateful. Where are new jobs coming from? NFTE supporter Ernst & Young knows: Entrepreneurs are driving 30% job growth at the more than 600 companies represented by E&Y’s 2012 US Entrepreneur Of The Year® program. That compares to negative overall U.S. job growth. Revenue growth is even greater at 48% compared to an American average of 5.6%.

Though the internet is already utilized in many educational settings, many believe that America is on the brink of an education revolution in which new digital platforms will transform our educational system.

Last week, several NFTE interns and I had the chance to participate in a BizBuilders instructor training session. This is a three-day workshop which prepares educators to teach NFTE’s entrepreneurship curriculum. It was a great opportunity for the other interns and me to learn more about the NFTE methodology and to get to know future NFTE teachers from around the country. 

It’s never too late to go back to school as one NFTE teacher is proving. Congratulations to Kara Brown, who works with NFTE’s Greater Los Angeles program office, from the Boys & Girls' Clubs of Oxnard.

The Power of Ownership

At NFTE, we call our programs owner-entrepreneurship education to stress the power of ownership to create wealth.

What’s it like to volunteer for NFTE and support the young student entrepreneurs? Jennifer Zarcone, an employee at NFTE supporter SAP, discovered the excitement of helping young entrepreneurs turn their ideas into business plans.

How much money is in your bank account? Only about 17% of young adults, 18-34, check their bank account balances daily.
