On Thursday, April 24, NFTE held its annual Gala at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. This year’s Gala celebrated the global young entrepreneurs and educators of 2014, and 20 years of NFTE in the D.C. Region. The Gala honored Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank and philanthropist Diana Davis Spencer.
NFTE is partnering with Starbucksin April to support our educational programs in several cities and states. Your support and votes could help NFTE receive a donation of more than $150,000 from the Starbucks Foundation. That’s a lot of coffee and a ‘Grande’ investment in the future of thousands of young people.
As you walked into the business expo at the New York Marriott Marquis last night you could sense that there was something special in the air. As kids were running around, setting up their booths to display their businesses you couldn’t help but feel excited for them. It was the start to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship Dare to Dream Awards Dinner and the beginning to a fantastic evening honoring our dedicated students and teachers.
This year’s annual Dare to Dream Awards Gala (our 17th!) was an action-packed night to remember as we honored 29 young people as our Global Young Entrepreneurs of the Year, sponsored by The Goldman Sachs Foundation, and 25 educators as our Teachers of the Year, as well as several prominent members of the business community: BlueMountain Capital Management LLC, Eddie C. Brown and Diana Taylor.
