The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship announced a new collaboration with Citi Foundation as part of their $50 million Pathways to Progress investment in career readiness and summer jobs.
As this infograph shows, this investment is essential.
Summer jobs teach essential job and career skills. Yet, overall, the percentage of young people taking summer jobs is down. And research shows that those most likely to have summer jobs are from more affluent families – leaving fewer options for disadvantaged young people.
This summer, NFTE, though the Pathways to Progress initiative, will teach disadvantaged young people how to leverage entrepreneurship to start businesses and make their own jobs. These programs will be available to youth in 10 communities and to everyone online at MakeYourJob.org.
