“I Am NFTE”: Miguel’s 17-Year Journey from Student to Development Director

For Miguel Vázquez, Development Director for New England and Mid-Atlantic regions at the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), the phrase “I am NFTE” is more than just a slogan—it’s a declaration of identity, purpose, and community. His 17-year journey with NFTE is a testament to the organization’s transformative power and the enduring impact it has on young entrepreneurs.

Miguel’s NFTE story began in high school when he stumbled upon the program. Little did he know that this chance encounter would shape the trajectory of his life and career. As a student, Miguel experienced firsthand the life-changing impact of NFTE’s entrepreneurship education.

Miguel’s talent and dedication quickly became apparent. In 2008, he was named the NFTE Global Young Entrepreneur of the Year Runner Up, a significant achievement that foreshadowed his future success. This recognition was just the beginning of Miguel’s multi-faceted journey with NFTE.

Over the years, Miguel has worn many hats within the organization:

Starting as a Lead Development Associate, Miguel has worked his way up to his current role as Development Director, bringing his unique perspective and unwavering commitment to every position he’s held.

Miguel’s dedication to NFTE extends beyond his official duties. Known for his meticulous attention to detail, he once printed out NFTE’s 2010 brand guidelines and turned them into a “bible” to ensure perfect adherence. Even now, he keeps the exact color codes for NFTE’s signature orange, purple, and light blue at hand. His commitment to the brand is so deep that he once owned a pair of NFTE purple pants!

For Miguel, being part of the NFTE team has been a profoundly impacting experience, both personally and professionally. Each role has deepened his understanding of the organization and strengthened his dedication to its mission. From experiencing the programs as a student to contributing to strategic planning as an employee, Miguel’s varied experiences fuel his passion and empathy for the young entrepreneurs NFTE serves.
