CEO, The Rapt Group

Alex is currently the CEO of The Rapt Group, an advisory firm supporting education companies at all stages of growth. Previously, Alex co-founded Flocabulary, a widely adopted digital learning platform that uses music videos toteach the K-12 curriculum. Flocabulary was acquired by Nearpod in 2019 and continuesto reach millions of kids around the world.While leading Flocabulary, Alex partnered with New York City Small Business Services to create and launch Big Idea Week, a product design and pitch event for 4th and 5th graders. In 2016, a group of mentors from leading tech and designcompanies partnered with more than 500 students across the city to teach design thinking, rapid prototyping and branding. For his work on Big Idea Week, Alex received the Magic Feather Award from the DUMBO BID.


Named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, Alex is a regular speaker on education and entrepreneurship and has shared the Flocabulary story around the world. Alex also serves on the board of American Student Assistance, a national nonprofit focused on workforce readiness, and is the co-vice chair of the board at The Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn, NY. Alex graduated with a degree in music from Tufts University and lives with his family in Brooklyn.
